A 20 year old Tom Kickham has the game of his young life that he will never forget. First the invitation to participate in the Olympic Trials held in 1955, and then to play in the game alongside some of the greats of St. Louis soccer.
What was so special about this game is that the first game that ended in a 2-2- tie, Mr. Kickham scored on a goal with the assist going to Hall of Famer Elwood “Butch” Cook and assisted on the second goal with a pass to Hall of Famer Paul “Dean” Wilson.
Was his youthful age a deterring factor on decision making for the Olympic Team? Needless to say, Mr. Kickham had a game that he will never forget. The St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame will never forget.
One of the earlier teams Mr. Kickham (kneeling 3rd from the left) played was the 1952-1953 DeAndreis High School Team with fellow Hall of Famers Rich Niehaus and Dan Goggins.
