1924 (first time in the papers) played fullback for St. Agnes, beating St. Agatha 1-0. Municipal League.
1925 played fullback for Pieper-Koch in the Muny League against St. Boniface. 1-1 tie.
1926 played outside right for Ivanhoe Elevens (aka the “Ives”). They played at Ivanhoe Field (Kingshighway and Southwest). Scored one of the winning goals against the Innisfails, cited for “playing in great style”.
Played fullback in another game against HIP. Team lost 4-3. (also in 1926)
Played halfback in another game against Schollmeyer Realtors.
1927 Played fullback against the German Sport Club. Won 1-0
1928 Played fullback for Koch Bros. Hardware against Lee-Scherman. Won 1-0
1929 played for the William Watson-O’Rourke Realty Co team, Municipal Soccer Association.
Shot 3 of the winning goals as center forward against the Tanzemhager Club. 9 – 1.
In another game against German Sport Club, he scored one of the 11 winning goals. He played fullback in this game.
1930 His name was in the paper 6 different times.
1931 Married to Bernadette Krieger. They had 3 children, then Bernadette died young (1941) and he remarried and had more children.
Didn’t see him in the papers anymore until 1934, when he became a well-known softball pitcher (and coach for girls teams) for various teams into the 1940’s. His first wife Bernadette died in 1941.

Francis worked as a Newspaper Pressman for the Star and Times and retired from the Post Dispatch
Francis passed away in 1982 at the age of 75
