Eversmeyer, Lindsay Kennedy 2023

Lindsay Kennedy Eversmeyer could be called a modern day P.T. Barnum, but without the gimmicks.  A performer, a player, a coach, a marketing director, a salesman, an owner, and a winner.  Early on she would find soccer was a sport that she loved, but there were few girls teams and she was so talented, so she started playing with the guys.  After a star studded high school career, it was on to college.  Lindsay was so successful as a freshman at the University of Kansas, but she didn’t feel comfortable and missed St. Louis.  Completing her college career at Harris-Stowe and breaking records she still holds to this day, where could she go as a female player?  The WPS was a place to enter, but as she attended tryouts, the league folded.  Next step began her coaching career and nearly every club wanted her to participate, and she did.  This would lead her to high school, college, and in her spare time, she created the Fire & Ice Team, giving young women a place to play at the semi-pro level in the WPSL. She owned & coached the team for 10 years and was either a division champion, conference champion, or final four team, culminating with the 2017 National Championship.  Lindsay is currently the head MEN’s soccer coach at SWIC, where she had been with the ladies.

Now, to get back to a P.T. Barnum without the “gimmick”, yes, Lindsay was the first woman to sign a professional contract in the MISL and to play with the St. Louis Steamers.  Never letting the guys get the best of her, she played, and was a fan favorite.
