The St. Louis Soccer Hall has another Twellman, and undoubtedly, not the last. The first of Mike’s 5 National Championships began the U-16 National Champion Ruiz soccer club, Mike was on an early road to a successful soccer career. Prior to the NCAA changing rules of playing soccer for a local team during college, Mike was a standout player at SIUE earning him a DI National Championship in 1979 and a semi-finalist in 1982. During the same time, Mike would play with the Busch SC that would credit the team with back to back Amateur Cup National Champions in 1980 and 1981. Shortly after being invited to the Olympic Sports Festival, he would be on his way to the Chicago Sting, Jacksonville Teamen and the Dallas Sidekicks to play in the MISL and NASL. Like many others, Mike gave it all as a pro. Mike would return to St. Louis and pick up where he left off. With the Busch Soccer Club winning a National Open Cup in 1988 and three National Finalists with the Kutis Over-30 Team. He continued being involved with the beautiful game by coaching at JB Marine S.C. and Scott Gallagher. He would continue his love of the game by becoming a High School referee from 2009-2014
