Like many athletes in St. Louis, Bill Abstein excelled at two sports. As a Soccer Player, Bill played in the St. Louis Association with the Diel F.C. and a short time with the Memphis Chicks in the Southern League. It was at this time that Bill also played for the St. Leo’s Team in the St. Louis League.
Bill’s second (?) sport was baseball. Playing for the St. Louis Browns and the Pittsburg Pirates where he was at first base during the 1909 World Series.
